CWAGS TRIAL FAQ

If you are only running in FEO runs, you do not need to register.

If you are running in qualified runs and this is your first time doing a CWAGS event, registration for your dog is required. You can register online HERE

The Premium tells you:
 - Trial date and location
 - What levels are being offered
 - Entry deadline Pricing

When filling out your entry:
 - Choose your level(s) - you can enter multiple levels!
 - Indicate Regular Entry or FEO  (scroll to "Regular Entry vs FEO" to learn more)
 - Provide your dog's registered name and number
 - Double-check all information before submitting

You can pay using:
 - PayPal (@qbits)
 - Venmo (@qbits)
 - Cash

Lower levels (1 & 2) are always at QnB. We've only gone off-site once, so you'll know the facility!

Arrive at least 15 minutes early to:
 - Check in
 - Get your dog settled
 - Review the run order
 - Ask any last-minute questions

Regular Entry ($20 per run):
 - Your dog is working toward a title
 - Passes count toward your 4 needed for title
 - Your dog qualifies for this level

FEO - For Exhibition Only ($10 per run):
 - Your dog is NOT earning a title
 - Passes don't count
 - Great for practice!

When to enter FEO:
 - You have two dogs and want to run both
 - Your dog already titled and you're practicing
 - Your dog doesn't qualify for this level yet but needs experience
 - You want trial exposure without pressure

What it is: A basic container search - your dog searches boxes for one hidden odor.

Are you ready? Your dog should be able to do a novice search completely independently (no handler help) at least in classes.

The Details:
 - 1 hide
 - 9-10 boxes
 - No distractors (food, toys, etc.)
 - One fault allowed (you can make one incorrect call and keep going!)

What it is: Two searches combined - odor hidden on chairs AND in/on containers or objects.

Are you ready? Your dog should be reliable at Level 1 first, OR you can start here if your dog is ready.

The Details:
 - 2 hides total
 - Tables, chairs, and objects
 - No distractors
 - One fault allowed

You can enter Level 1, Level 2, or BOTH at the same trial!

As you advance, CWAGS offers Level 3 (Scent Investigator) and Level 4 (Scent Super Sleuth) with more hides, larger areas, and added challenges.

What it is: You stay back (starting at 7-8 feet) while your dog searches independently.

Good for:
 - Dogs who work better with handler at a distance
 - Building your dog's independence
 - Handlers who want to improve their observation skills

There are three Ranger levels that progressively increase difficulty and distance.

What it is: For FAST teams who can work quickly and accurately. The focus is letting speedy teams show what they can do.

Are you ready? CWAGS strongly recommends:
 - Your dog has mastered Level 3 (Investigator) or higher
 - You can quickly recognize your dog's indication
 - You're confident in fast-paced searches

Not for beginners - build your foundation first!

Pass/Fail System:
 - Each run either passes or fails
 - 4 passes = Title (must be under 2 different judges)
 - Find all hides with no more than one fault

What About ACE Titles? After you earn your title (4 passes), keep going!
 - 10 more passes = ACE (Advanced Championship Excellence)
 - Keep earning: ACE X2, ACE X3, ACE X4... infinitely!

Example:
 - 4 passes = Level 1 title ✓
 - 10 more passes (14 total) = Level 1 ACE ✓
 - 10 more passes (24 total) = Level 1 ACE X2 ✓

CWAGS can run two ways:

Single Trial: One-day event, all runs same day
League Play: Multiple trial dates in one season, accumulate passes across dates

Both count toward titles the same way!

 - Birch
 - Anise
 - Clove
 - Cypress

At ALL CWAGS levels, you can have one fault and keep searching!
 - Make one incorrect call → Keep going!
 - Make a second fault → Run is over

This is what makes CWAGS so beginner-friendly.

All crating in vehicles. Dogs only out for:
 - Pottying
 - When called for their run

Do not stand in front of building doors.

No viewing the search area until after you've run (or if you're not entered in that class).

Do NOT discuss runs until all dogs in that class have finished. Universal trial courtesy!

 - Your dog (on leash!)
 - Water bowl
 - Crating supplies for your vehicle
 - Positive attitude and good sportsmanship

 - Dogs on leash at all times except in search area
 - Maintain 6-foot spacing between teams
 - Clean up after your dog
 - Be responsible for your dog's safety and behavior

Scores will be posted on-site after each class completes. However, the official results do not get sent to CWAGS until after the league ends so they will not be immediately posted to your dogs profile.

Our trial secretary submits to CWAGS within 7 days. You'll get confirmation from CWAGS directly.

Self-serve ribbons available after on-site scores are posted!

Some CWAGS trials are Luna's Legacy events:
 - Same pricing and format
 - 50% of entry fees support Salt Lake County Animal Services
 - Honoring Lisa's dog Luna while helping shelter animals

Watch for announcements!
